Once in college Esha Malhotra (Esha Deol) and Rahul Sharma (Hrithik Roshan) start a letter based friendship that blossoms into love. They don't exchange name, pictures or any personal items. Her parents would like Esha to marry Akshay Kapoor (Saif Ali Khan), a flirt and womanizer who also happens to be Rahul's best friend, who's also eager to tie the knot. But more problems arise which at last reunites Rahul and Esha for years to come.
