Little House on the Prairie: Upon being sold a generous piece of land, Almanzo is thrilled to begin building a home for himself and his fiancee Laura. Paying for the property is dependent on a strong and healthy crop, but Almanzo is very optimistic about it. He hires his friend Harv Miller to assist him and help take care of Eliza Jane's house. Eliza Jane develops a quick fondness for Harv, and those feelings grow deeper as she starts becoming more straightforward in asking him over to dinner on several occasions. Laura rises over several applicants to receive a teaching position at a relatively distant school. Although she knows she cannot accept it, she feels deprived of her passion for this career--but Caroline reminds her that marriage often does call for some sacrifices. Later, when the man who sold Almanzo the land turns out to be an immoral jerk, Almanzo stands to lose everything in an instant. Meanwhile, in a hilariously entertaining subplot, Nellie Oleson gets a surprise that leaves her mother shocked and speechless.
