The Forsyte Saga (2002): Looking for greater independence, Jon strikes out on his own and begins renovating an old cottage. Fleur surprises him there and they spend a week together. Jolyon visits Fleur and begs her to end the relationship, revealing that he is a dying man and Irene will be left alone if Jon marries her. Soames meanwhile reveals to Annette the letter he's received about her affair with Profond. She laughs it off. Michael Mont, asks Soames for permission to marry Fleur, which he grants leaving the final decision to Fleur herself. Both sides of the family realize they've been deceived when they attend a cricket match and see Jon and Fleur together. Irene and Jolyon decide to tell Jon about Bosinney and Soames, which all proves to be too much for the ailing Jolyon.
